We would like to announce the programme for our very first Watchet Film Festival and the first for West Somerset!!
The festival has been planned to show a variety of films over the four days and to offer the opportunity to take part in a workshop and watch special short films.
It is also going to be fun and sociable!
We would love you all to experience the whole festival and with this in mind we are offering many of the films free of charge - funded in part from all of the raffles to which you have so generously contributed!
Films to be shown :
Friday 10th - Bridget Jone's Baby which sees our Bridget’s focus on single life and her career interrupted when she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch ... she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby's father.
The film starts at 7 pm and tickets are £4 with an optional supper at £6 for which pre- booking is required.
Saturday 11th. 2pm- Life, Animated
a 2016 award-winning true story about an autistic boy and his family who overcame great challenges by turning Disney animated movies into a language to express love, loss, kinship and brotherhood
Entry is free with an optional donation to cinemas funds.
Saturday 11th - Pandaemonium ”. Released in 2002, this is a story of friendship and betrayal between the poets Wordsworth & Samuel Taylor Coleridge during the turbulent time of the French Revolution. It portrays their exploration of the creative force and their desire to see deep into reality, although Coleridge’s attempts to achieve this using opium nearly destroyed him. Filming took place over the Quantocks, in Watchet and at Bardon House, Washford so it has very local connections. What makes this screening extra-special is that it will be preceded by a talk from the film’s director Julien Temple. Tickets are £4 with a wine and cheese reception.
In the evening - doors open 6pm. Film starts 7pm
Sunday 12th - Whisky Galore.2pm.
This is a 1949 Ealing classic based on a real-life incident that occurred in 1941 on the Hebridean island of Eriskay when the SS Politician ran aground. The tale of how a group of local Scottish islanders raided a shipwreck for its consignment of 24,000 cases of whisky quickly became legend. Entry is free with an optional donation.
